Free Resources for Reducing/Managing Stress
Stress Management Courses
Alison’s Stress Management Course
This course at alison.com is completely free and even ends in certification! It is a lengthy course but I found the modules to be extremely interesting and beneficial.
Her course takes you through learning about different types of coping strategies and how to develop positive ones in your life.
She also talks about using exercise to reduce stress and how exercise is beneficial to a long-term strategy for reducing stress.
The course ends by helping you to learn how to create your own DIY program to identify the stressors in your life.
This course is extremely beneficial to anyone looking to reduce stress in any part of their life!
(And did I mention… completely free!)
This Way Up Stress Management Course
This stress management course is set up a bit differently than the previous but I love it just the same. It has lessons that are designed to be self-paced and completed within 2 months. The unique thing about this course is that it has a 5-day lockout feature which is designed to encourage you to really take in the material and lesson before moving on to the next.
This course also offers quizzes that will assess your stress level and establish how you are feeling. The course will notify you by email if your levels are above an acceptable amount. I found this to be a super helpful feature!
The stories in this course are comic based and you follow a character through a journey to learn practical skills to manage your stress.
This course also offers downloadable lesson summaries, activities and a calendar to track and plan each lesson. (Something a scheduling/organizing junkie like me loves!)
I highly recommend taking the time to complete this free course!
Stress Management For Parents Course
This course also offers a certificate after you complete the modules and pass the knowledge assessments. What is unique about this course is that it is targeted specifically for parents – making it my favorite one on the list!
The modules in this course go over individual stress, communication, stress in the family and problem-solving.
If you are short on time, this course is the way to go, as it can easily be completed in just 1-2 hours, compared to the weeks/months of the previous courses.
Stress Management Handout
If courses are not really your thing (or you don’t have the time) this handout is an awesome freebie I found. It really takes the time to go over several different factors relating to stress. It has some information-rich material, several how-tos, and coping strategies. It even has an amazing resource page at the end. The resource page includes a number to a helpline that I believe is one of the best resources you could have!
If you only had the time for one resource on this list- I would recommend starting here.
Huffington Post Article
While searching for free resources, I came across this Huffington Post article over managing stress in a healthy way. It is an excellent post with a few easy to use and implement techniques that you could get started on today. It also takes the time to remind us that we are teaching our children how to manage stress. This is something we all need to remember when we react to the stressors in our lives. I loved this post because it is directed specifically at parenting, and has easy to manage steps to meet your goal of reducing and managing stress.
